Route 66 (TAS) turns 20!!

Iconic local business, Route 66, is celebrating their 20 year birthday milestone.

“I feel privlideged my customers have supported me over the years and continue to do so. I’ve witnessed a lot of change during that time, a lot of businesses have come and gone”

The Charles St business came to life in 1997, when Paul Mischis purchased Downtown Denims, where he had been working for some years. After enjoying success, in 2004, Route 66 doubled its floor space, taking over the neighbouring store to accommodate the high demand for quality street brands in the Launceston market.

“I’m excited to be celebrating our 20th birthday”, said Mr Paul Mischis. “I feel privlideged my customers have supported me over the years and continue to do so. I’ve witnessed a lot of change during that time, a lot of businesses have come and gone”. Paul sites the global recession and the growth of online shopping to be two of the biggest challenges that faced Route 66, however, attributes his success to offering a great product range, staying ‘on trend’ and providing great customer service.

Here are some photos from this morning, where Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten along with Cityprom Executive Officer, Vanessa Cahoon, will presented Mr Mischis with a twenty year certificate of service recognition:
