It may not be news to you, but this week Tasmania has seen A LOT of snow. And if you weren’t lucky enough to see some in person we are sure that you have either seen it on social media or television, or you’ve heard about it on the radio or through a friend. So if you’re thinking about taking serious advantage of the snowfall, then here are a couple of things you need to know before you head up to Ben Lomond for a toboggan, ski or, of course, a snowball fight:
- Chains: These are a must for any vehicle travelling up to Ben Lomond, if you don’t have chains you will have to catch the shuttle bus.
- Warm clothing: Please make sure that you bring appropriate clothing, especially if you have small children, if they are cold they won’t enjoy themselves. This means thick socks and gloves and wet weather gear. Also, a change of clothes always comes in handy after playing in the snow.
- Be sunsafe: It may be cold and wet, but the snow’s reflective surface increases the risk of sun damage, so please remember to wear sunscreen
Current snow forecast
There has been another 10cm of snowfall, and it is great for skiing and snowboarding. Currently, visibility is good and there are two lifts operating on the mountain. With more snow predicted and winds decreasing, conditions will be perfect for the whole family to enjoy the snow.
